Well-made and properly placed implants not only fill gaps in the natural dentition, but also let the artificial teeth fully perform their function and remain indistinguishable from natural teeth.

What are implants?

Contrary to popular belief, dental implants are not artificial teeth at all. They are artificial roots - fixtures made of titanium, the size of a natural tooth root, screwed into the jawbone. The artificial tooth - the crown - is only placed on top of the implant. It is worth knowing that the number of implants is not always equal to the number of missing teeth. A few implants can be placed to support all of the missing teeth.

The course of implant treatment

Placing the fixture itself does not take long, but the whole reconstruction process takes months. After the implant is inserted, time is needed for the fixture to integrate with the bone - only then is the treatment complete. Before the implant fully integrates, gaps in the dentition can be concealed with a temporary restoration, later replaced by the artificial teeth.

Implant treatment is inherently very durable, which means that for many years patients feel no difference between artificial and natural teeth. Moreover, in many cases several artificial teeth can be supported by a single implant, significantly reducing the cost of treatment.
